Vision

Vision
50-0017

Through the years it has become clear that Soma Arts Lounge would someday, in fact, operate in the community as a lounge. We are working to make that happen, seeking to develop cooperative relationships with healing artists, activists, teachers, business professionals [marketing, IT, accounting, legal], and thinkers. The space will provide for movement classes, workshops, private practices, gallery, retail, and community. If YOU are interested, please contact us.

We are currently developing a private label of massage and body oils, which will be offered in the Portland area retail market, festivals, online, to massage practitioners, and in spa boutiques. The overhead to launch this is estimated at 10K, for product inventory [bottles, carrier oils, essential oils, labels, shipping supplies], e-commerce, a website, and marketing.

In order to materialize these visions we are calling for investors to donate or create investment contracts with. Your support is needed financially to bring forth these dreams! Your generosity and support are deeply appreciated!

Documentary Films

I am both encouraged and overwhelmed by some recent documentaries I've seen. They simultaneously impress the importance of personal responsibility, and the lack of action on the part of government and their big business pals to regulate the media and propaganda, therefore making personal responsibility a major challenge. When massive amounts of programming, print, tv, and virtual images are so prevalent, it is not surprising that American's are left will-less, mis-informed, mis-treated, and totally stupefied.

On the issue of obesity, the film
Killer at Large offers a holistic look at the causes and effects of marketing, massive agri-business, politics, and the realities of modern culture, to address what is a bigger threat than 'terrorism' in our time.

Obesity : Killer at Large :: Watch the Trailer

Closely related, as all of the major issues of the day are [obesity, oil, media, government, food, nutrition, culture, environment, etc], is a movie that addresses nutrition and disease. Specifically, Cancer and other immune diseases and their response to a vegan diet, juicing and coffee enemas, or The Gerson Therapy. The Beautiful Truth follows a 15 year old boy as he produces a home-schooling project on the link between diet and disease.

The Beautiful Truth :: Watch the Trailer

These films are powerful sources of information, that reinforce how important it is to shield oneself from mass marketing, packaged foods, and over-consumption/consummerism-the traps of corporate America in partnership with 'our' government. It is time to elevate local farming, community gardens, de-programming our minds and hearts from advertising, a connection to the Earth, and empowering each others' intelligence to make wise choices.

Flock Blog Go!

Who and What is Flock?

Flock is a dynamic network of creative, forward-moving, business-owning women in Portland, OR.  We self-invented in early 2008 out of a desire to connect and collaborate with other creative women entrepreneurs.

We understand that while we have chosen to go solo, an extraordinary community of creative professional females surrounds us, and that we can all thrive by honoring and learning from each other’s expertise and experience.

We support each other by providing ideas, resources, feedback and referrals.  We are committed to inspiring in each other clarity, excitement and the drive to succeed.  We approach our individual livelihoods and our shared network with a vibrant, authentic, whole-self philosophy.

We meet monthly, communicate regularly, and host public events to promote our talents.

Barter

As recently featured on OPB’s “Think out Loud”, I was exposed to two bartering organizations, one homespun with sustainability at the forefront, the other international. They are Bright Neighbor and Biz Exchange, respectively. We can create more equality and less consumerism overall if we utilize these kinds of programs, and learn to negotiate our individual worth in light of the greater good of all.
