Therapeutic Carrier Oils

I was recently asked which base oils I use for massage. While I also use a variety of essential oils to create a custom blend, a good carrier oil is equally essential. Here is a profile of oils I commonly blend into a base/carrier oil for body care. Even though this is a list of oils for external use, remember, the skin is the body’s largest ORGAN, and will go into the bloodstream, affect the lymphatic, musculo-skeletal systems, etc.

USE ONLY COLD PRESSED, UN-REFINED, ORGANIC, RAW:

Apricot Kernel: High in vitamin E, light texture, absorbent [non -greasy], treats tumors in Chinese medicine.
Avocado: Excellent for sun-damaged, mature skin, emollient, increases collagen production.
Almond: Lightweight and calming, reduces itching and soreness.
Jajoba: Waxy, and reduces inflamed skin conditions [psoriosis, exzema, acne], effective for hair as well.
Kukui Nut:
Grapeseed: All skin types, lightweight.
Sesame: Rheumatism/Arthritis, dryness, detoxifies fungal skin conditions.
Peanut: Effective for treating Bursitis, however has a short shelf life.
Olive:
Hazelnut:
Sunflower Seed:
Hemp Seed:
Coconut:
Macadamia Nut:
Pumpkin Seed:

Storage: Dark glass bottle, cool location.
